[AWS/Beginner] Lambda and S3Events DEMO

[AWS/Beginner] Lambda X-Ray
We’re going to be creating a Lambda function that can be called via a Function URL, that will query a Dog photo API, it will then save the image to an S3 bucket, and then show us the image in the browser.

[AWS/Expert] Rekognition-ECR Demo
In this demo you will be creating a Rekognition model that will be used to detect cats and dogs images. You will then build a simple Flask application using Docker that will be used to test the Rekognition model. This application will be uploaded to an ECR repository and deployed to an ECS cluster.

[AWS/Beginner] Lex-Lambda-RDS Demo
In this demo you will be creating a Lex bot that will be used to make an appointment for your pet to take it to the grooming salon. You will also build a simple Lambda function that will be used as backend for the Lex bot. This function will also be used to insert the appointment information into a RDS database. Lastly, you will deploy a simple web application using App Runner service that will be used to review and cancel the appointments.

[AWS/Expert] DynamoDB Lambda Triggers
We will be setting up a DynamoDB table full of cats that are waiting to be adopted. When the adopted field is updated to true, a Lambda will be triggered that will send an email to the adoption center telling them that “[cat abc] has been adopted!”

[AWS/Expert] – Building a Photo Gallery Application

API Gateway with Lambda, Mock, and AWS Service integrations
We’re going to set up an API Gateway REST API, with a few different endpoints, including Mock, Lambda, and AWS service (SNS) integrations. You can read about the differences between REST and HTTP APIs here: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/apigateway/latest/developerguide/http-api-vs-rest.html For this demo we will use REST, because it allows the use of Mock integrations. I will be creating this in the ap-southeast-2 region, so all links to the console will be there. Make sure you change region if you’re deploying elsewhere.

CloudTrail with Log File Integrity
We’re going to be creating a CloudTrail Trail, logging to an S3 bucket, with Log file validation enabled. We’re then going to see how our AWS API calls appear in the log files, we’re going to check the checksum / hash of the log files, look at the log file hashes in the digest files, and then we will try modifying a log file and a digest file, to see how it breaks validity. We will be creating this environment in the ap-southeast-4 (Melbourne) region, so all links to the console will be there. Make sure you change region if you’re deploying elsewhere.

Web Identity Federation
In this advanced demo series you will be implementing a simple serverless application which uses Web Identity Federation. The application runs using the following technologies S3 for front-end application hosting Google API Project as an ID Provider Cognito and IAM Roles to swap Google Token for AWS credentials

Control Tower

Web Identity Federation
In this advanced demo series you will be implementing a simple serverless application which uses Web Identity Federation. The application runs using the following technologies S3 for front-end application hosting Google API Project as an ID Provider Cognito and IAM Roles to swap Google Token for AWS credentials

Migrating a database with the Database Migration Service
In this advanced demo you will be migrating a simple web application (wordpress) from an on-premises environment into AWS. The on-premises environment is a virtual web server (simulated using EC2) and a self-managed mariaDB database server (also simulated via EC2) You will be migrating this into AWS and running the architecture on an EC2 webserver and RDS managed SQL database.

Systems Manager in a Hybrid Environment (with a focus on patch manager)
In this advanced demo you will get the chance to experience AWS Systems Manager. The demo simulates a Hybrid AWS and On-premises environment - both using AWS.

EFS
In this demo lesson you will implement a simple EFS architecture within an AWS VPC

Elastic Disaster Recovery (AWS DRS)
We’re going to set up a basic Nginx EC2 instance, and then install the Elastic Disaster Recovery agent, to replicate the instance / application to another region.

Global Accelerator
We’re going to set up three EC2 instances running WordPress. All three will have public elastic IPs, one will have Global Accelerator, and another will have Cloudfront (without caching). We’re going to see the differences between the three in terms of network / website performance.

SCP, Permissions Boundary, and IAM policy
We’re going to be creating and configuring an IAM user, and then limiting their access via IAM Policies, Permissions Boundary’s, and Service Control Policies (SCPs).

Using Macie to scan S3 for PII
We’re going to create some fake PII (Personally Identifiable Information) in an S3 bucket, set up Amazon Macie to find and report that data, and alert us via EventBridge and SNS.

Systems Manager
We’re going to launch two instances, one with Amazon Linux 2, and one with Ubuntu 20.04. We’re going access these instances using Session Manager, use Patch Manager to apply any available OS updates, and the Run Command feature to run some shell commands across our instances.

Video on Demand using MediaConvert, S3, and Cloudfront
We’re going to create a Video on Demand backend that will take any uploaded video format to a source bucket, convert it to the format we require, and place the output video into another bucket ready to be served by Cloudfront.

AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF)
We’re going to be creating an EC2 instance running WordPress, we’ll put an Application Load Balancer in front of it, and then associate an AWS WAF WebACL with that load balancer. We’ll then explore the different rules and actions we can configure, as well as setting up WAF logging to S3 and viewing those logs.

VPC Flow Logs
We’re going to create two EC2 instances and diagnose a connectivity issue between the two, using VPC flow logs.
